The 20 goals of 2025 (& a few saves)
The 2025 Women’s Team had another exceptional season in the USL-W league. They claimed their second consecutive Great Lakes Division Title, with a record of 7 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses. The only losses were to AFC Ann Arbor who could have taken the title. However a 3-2 loss at home in their final match of the season against last place Toledo Villa FC prevented them from topping us.
Our Central Conference Semi-Final opponent was Kings Hammer FC. The match was played on the Fourth of July in Pittsburgh with a start time of 10:30 AM. By the 17th minute, City was down 2-nil. There is no quit in this team and City cut the lead in half in the 80th minute. A second was buried into the back of the net by Hannah Crum, however the assistant ref raised an arm signaling an offside call, and our season ended minutes later.
Fortunate to have attended every match, I got something of each of the 20 goals the team scored in their 11 contests.
Of course, in order to be successful, the ball has to stay out of the net, so I threw in a few of the 50 saves as well.

A team does not win by offense alone. Only 8 goals in 11 matches were conceded.
This year, Allison Lapoint was the team’s #1 keeper, starting 9 of the 11 matches, recording 5 clean sheets and saving 46 of 53 shots.
Charlotte Huggard started between the sticks in the two clutch wins (at Toledo Villa FC and at Kalamazoo FC) to keep the playoff hopes alive, earning a clean sheet and saving 4 of 5 shots on target.
Yes, one of the saves is defender Ella Karolak heading the ball away from danger.
