The first road trip for the 2026 squad crossed the border into Indiana to face Indy Eleven. It was their home opener after losing 1-nil in Brooklyn two weeks prior. We dominated Brooklyn FC last week at Keyworth, so there was optimism going into Michael A. Carroll Stadium.

Despite all the possession by Detroit, Indy struck first. Bruno Rendon chased a ball to the end line that Josh O’Brien chipped over the City defense. Rendon delivered it toward goal where Dylan Sing headed it past Carlos Herrera to give Indy a 1-nil lead in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, City equalized in the 56th minute. Kobe Hernandez-Foster delivered an over-the-top pass from our side of the center line. Darren Smith got in behind the defense, caught it and broke in to score against Indy keeper, Eric Dick.

Indy regained their lead six minutes later. The ball lofted from an Indy defender dropped into the City box. Devon Amoo-Mensah headed it out. Unfortunately it found the head of Josh O’Brien whose forehead guided it to Bruno Rendon. Rendon quickly nodded it to his feet and fired it into the net.
