The first half was an evenly matched affair. City held more possession and opportunities than the Admirals, however the visitors knocked on the door a few times. For the second half, Grand Haven switched keepers, and Braeleigh McCoy stepped in between the sticks. She got her first taste of the re-energized City attack in the first minute when Lillian Lucas sent the ball through to Isabella Sabo. All alone in front of McCoy, Sabo slotted the ball past the new keeper and City took the lead.
For the next five minutes, City continued applying the offensive pressure, but could not find the back of the net. It wasn’t until the 73rd minute that City doubled the lead. A free kick was awarded about thirty yards from the goal. Kimberly Sibert stood over the ball and lofted it into the box. It dropped between Isabella Sabo and Braeleigh McCoy, then deflected to Lillian Lucas who stretched to poke the ball into the unguarded net.
Player of the Match: Isabella Sabo.
The 6-1-1 record with two matches remaining keeps them in contention for the Great Lakes Conference champion.
